    Title: Opening

It is 9 in New York, 2 p.m. in London, and 10 on a Wednesday evening here in Seoul. Hello and welcome to our viewers all across the globe. You're watching Arirang Newscenter.

Title: N. Korea fires two ballistic missiles into East Sea: S. Korean military

Just the latest in a series of North Korea's defiance of United Nations Security Council resolutions... Pyongyang has fired off missiles into the East Sea.

And, for the first time ever, one has landed in Japanese-controlled waters.

In a rare move to the North's mid-range missiles... Seoul's foreign affairs ministry released a statement of strong condemnation.

Our defense correspondent Kim Hyun-bin starts us off tonight.

South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on Wednesday that North Korea fired two ballistic missiles from Hwanghaenam-do province in the southwestern part of its territory... at 7:50 AM, South Korea time.

Both missiles are presumed to be mid-range Rodong missiles.

The U.S. Strategic Command said one of the missiles exploded soon after the launch.

South Korean military sources say the other one flew about a thousand kilometers and landed in Japan's exclusive economic zone.

"The missile launch is a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions, especially as the launch was of a ballistic missile that could be tipped with a nuclear warhead and could target South Korea and even neighboring countries."

This latest launch is being seen as an armed protest against the upcoming deployment to South Korea of the U.S. missile defense system THAAD.

South Korea's foreign ministry strongly condemned Pyongyang's reckless behavior and issued a statement on Wednesday's provocation.

The ministry added that it will seek greater cooperation with the UN Security Council and the international community to slap even stronger sanctions on the regime.

"Many experts believe North Korea will continue to launch ballistic missiles in the coming days, as a large-scale South Korea-U.S. war game called Ulchi Freedom Guardian is scheduled for the middle of the month."

    Kim Hyun-bin, Arirang News.

Title: U.S., Japan strongly condemn N. Korea's missile launch

As our Kim Hyunbin reported, the main body of one of the missiles landed in Japan's economic exclusion zone, escalating regional tensions that were already high after a series of missile launches this year.

Japan's Prime Minister called it an unforgivable act of violence threatening his country's national security while Washington also joined in on the denouncement.

Our Oh Jung-hee introduces us to global reactions and delves into what may be running through the mind of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

An unforgivable act of violence toward Japan's security...

That's what Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe called North Korea's missile launch on Wednesday.

"It is a considerable threat for our national security that North Korea's missile has landed in Japan's exclusive economic zone. I firmly protested against North Korea's unforgivable action which is in obvious defiance of U.N. Security Council resolutions. Japan will deal with it resolutely and in cooperation with the U.S and South Korea."

The U.S. strongly condemned the North's missile launch as well ,... calling on the regime to refrain from actions that could further escalate tensions in the region.

The U.S. State Department spokesperson Anna Richey-Allen told Seoul-based Yonhap News Agency that North Korea's recent missile launches including Wednesday's violate multiple UN Security Council resolutions,... and will be discussed at the UN.

She also emphasized that the U.S. remains "ironclad" to defend its allies including South Korea and Japan from the North's further provocations.

Condemnations from Tokyo and Washington are even stronger,... as the missiles fired on Wednesday can fly to a maximum distance of some 1,300 kilometers,... and can carry a nuclear warhead.

This is the first time a North Korean missile lands in Japanese waters in the East Sea.

In 1998, Pyongyang fired a Taepodong-1 missile that flew over Japanese territory and fell in its EEZ in the Pacific Ocean.

"North Korea aimed to show that it's capable of attacking U.S. strategic assets including its military base in Japan. Also, the regime wanted to further intensify conflicts and divide concerned countries,... with South Korea, the U.S. and Japan on one side, and North Korea, China and Russia on the other,... regarding issues like the THAAD deployment."

The regime's latest missile launches are expected to further ignite discussions on the deployment of the U.S. missile defense system on the Korean peninsula.

    Oh Jung-hee, Arirang News.

Title: President Park Geun-hye to visit Russia for Econ. Forum, Summit with Russian Pres. Putin

Amidst all this, President Park Geun-hye will visit Russia next month to attend an economic forum and discuss North Korea's nuclear program with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Kim Mok-yeon reports. President Park Geun-hye will travel to Russia's far eastern city of Vladivostok early September... to attend the Eastern Economic Forum where she will deliver a keynote speech at its plenary session.

Seoul's presidential office of Cheong Wa Dae said Wednesday... that the South Korean leader will also use the visit to sit down with her Russian counterpart to discuss various issues including North Korea's nuclear development.

Seoul and Moscow are both members of a long-stalled six-nation talks, which also involve the U.S., Japan, and China... on ending Pyongyang's nuclear program.

The negotiations has been on a halt since 2009 when the North walked away from discussions table.

Although not confirmed by the South Korean government, there are speculations that... a very possible agenda item at the South Korea, Russia summit is the Seoul's recent decision to deploy an advanced U.S. missile defense system on the Korean peninsula... to counter North Korean nuclear and missile threats.

Russia and China have been expressing strong opposition to the system, saying it could help the U.S. monitor their own missiles.

The top office said the summit between Presidents Park and Putin in Vladivostok this September - the fourth of its kind - will serve as an opportunity for the two countries to further develop their strategic cooperative partnership.

Title: Mongolia cancels registration of 14 N. Korean ships operating under Mongolian flag

Meanwhile... UN member nations have been submitting their reports on how they are implementing sanctions on North Korea.

Pressure on Pyongyang seems apparent, especially with Ulaanbaatar cancelling North Korean ships operating under the Mongolian flag.

Connie Kim has the latest on global efforts to reign in North Korea's nuclear ambitions.

Mongolia, historically close to North Korea, has cancelled the registration of North Korean ships to operate under the Mongolian flag, the first such case by an individual country since the strongest set of UN sanctions against Pyongyang was announced in March.

The U.S.-based Voice of America reported Wednesday Mongolia's implementation report to the UN sanction committee for North Korea said Ulaanbaatar revoked the registration and terminated contracts of 14 North Korean ships under flag of convenience.

VOA has confirmed there was no North Korean vessel operating with a Mongolian flag since Ulaanbaatar submitted the implementation report.

Mongolia had allowed more than 4-hundred foreign ships including North Korean vessels to operate under the Mongolian flag until UN resolution 2270 was adopted.

The resolution blacklisted 27 ships from the North Korean shipping company Ocean Maritime Management.

With UN member states asked to submit their own implementation of sanctions reports, VOA highlighted that 41 countries have outlined their action plans to the UN so far, including those who are considered to have amicable ties with North Korea such as Uganda, South Africa, and Vietnam.

"A South Korean foreign affairs ministry official says that the active participation of UN members to implement sanctions against North Korea shows that the international community is aware of,and willing to tackle, the regime's nuclear ambitions, adding that recent state and official visits by Seoul to Pyongyang's traditional allies have contributed to bringing such results.

    Connie Kim, Arirang News."

Title: Opposition bloc vows to work for common political agenda

In the domestic political arena: the three opposition parties agreed to push for a common political agenda that includes prosecution reform and deployment of the THAAD battery to the Korean peninsula. The process was anything but smooth.

Our Park Ji-won reports... although this National Assembly started strong with a sense of unity, that spirit of togetherness seems to be melting away.

In a meeting Wednesday morning, the leaders of the three main opposition parties -- Woo Sang-ho for The Minjoo Party of Korea,... People's Party interim leader Park Jie-won,... and Justice Party's floor leader Roh Hoe-chan -- vowed to work toward a common political agenda, after voicing criticism of the current administration's unilateral governing style.

They noted that both the ruling party and the government have largely rejected the opposition bloc's proposals... since the general election in April that stripped the ruling party of its parliamentary majority.

"We've gathered here to urge the government and the ruling party to make concessions on the agenda that the opposition parties are promoting... and to reflect the parliament, in which the opposition parties are the majority."

"Without a sincere change from the ruling party, we now need to clearly show that the ruling party alone isn't capable of moving this country forward. Not even one centimeter."

The three political leaders agreed to seek formation of special committees on two issues that have brought about tremendous controversy in Korea -- reforming the prosecution... and the deployment of the THAAD missile defense system.

They also agreed to push to hold parliamentary hearings on the government's corporate restructuring drive... targeting the ailing shipbuilding industry... before giving the green light to the government's proposed budget supplement.

They will also seek a hearing on the government's use of water cannons at a demonstration last November, which knocked down a farmer who is still in a coma.

In response, the ruling Saenuri Party accused the opposition bloc of using their numerical superiority to pressure the ruling party... and said that this is not the kind of cooperative politics that the public wants.

Meanwhile, the ruling party is in the middle of a leadership race that's heating up... as five candidates vie for the party's top post through a series of campaign speeches and debates.

The election will take place at the party's national convention on Tuesday.

Title: Prospects gloomy for Korea's core industries in H2

Korea's key industries are not expected to do so well in the second half,... on dipping oil prices... and a slowdown in the global economy.

Here's a closer look at the projections by our Kim Min-ji .

Korea's core industries are expected to lose steam in the second half of this year.

According to the Korea Development Bank,... the prospects for most industries are gloomy,... with the majority expected to post negative growth.

The sectors most vulnerable are those subject to the government's corporate restructuring drive -- namely the shipbuilding and shipping industries.

Amid an industry wide slump, the volume of orders for the shipbuilding industry is expected to fall 92 percent this year from a year ago.

As a result, the order backlog is expected to fall over 33 percent,... while exports are projected to fall nearly 17 percent.

The outlook for the construction industry isn't much better,... especially because the number of overseas orders has dropped in the wake of the prolonged slump in global oil prices.

The display sector could also be facing an uphill battle... as companies step up their overseas production,... pushing panel prices down.

On the other hand, the semiconductor and mobile phone sectors both got a "fair" rating on the back of scheduled releases of new tech products.

As for the potential risks in the second half,... analysts point to low oil prices, which show no signs of picking up.

Korea's benchmark Dubai crude has been hovering at around the 40 U.S. dollar level since the spring.

While that's good for some industries,... it hurts the economies of oil-exporting nations, which in turn takes a toll on Korea's exports to those countries,... in addition to putting a dent in a demand for offshore plants and ships -- acting as a drag on the entire economy.

On top of that,... a possible rate hike in the U.S. could also trigger a massive capital outflow from the Korean market.

Analysts say... that for Korea to better weather the risks,... there needs to be a swift implementation of the government's proposed 10-billion-dollar budget supplement, which is currently pending at the National Assembly.

It's aimed at softening the impact of the corporate restructuring drive... and boosting job creation,... but analysts say a delay could muffle the desired effects.

    Kim Min-ji, Arirang News.

Title: Macroeconomic policies need to be supportive of ongoing structural reforms: BOK board member

With exports falling in double-digits and corporate restructuring underway... there's growing speculation that another rate cut is in store.

As we look to the Bank of Korea's monetary policy meeting for this month in just a week from now... Arirang's Hwang Ji-hye sat down with a member of the central bank's monetary policy board.

"While releasing its new growth outlook, the government... forecast Korea's exports to drop by around five percent this year from last year when we saw a drop of around eight percent.

Is Korea losing its industrial competitveness or is the downturn simply reflecting the slowing demand in China or other key markets?"

"Let's get the facts straight first. Even though we have seen sharp drop in our exports, in volume terms, the first quarter of this year compared to first quarter of last year, actually increased in volume terms.

The global economy is bleak. No doubt about it. We most likely will be experiencing slow economic growth for the next five to 10 years. Within this slowdown, our export performance is not as bad as some people might have thought, largely because our export is so much dependent on the unit value prices, which in turn is very dependent on oil prices.

I'm not saying we were superb. But given the circumstances that we have been heavily dependent on heavy industries where competition has been most severe from China, from that context, we're doing okay.

But the key challenge is, okay, how dow we ensure given the uncertainty in the external sector, that we strengthen self-sustaining consumption cycle that we seem to have already put in place."

"Exactly, to overcome that kind of challenge, do you think additional fiscal and monetary policies are necessary on top of the ones that the central bank and the government have introduced in June?"

"Recently, we had a conference. BOK and the Peterson Institute and many speakers there sort of emphasized the fact that we are facing structural problems.

However, in all situations, it's not purely structural, there are some cyclical factors as well. And therefore, they emphasized the need for macroeconomic policies to be supportive of the undergoing structural reforms.

Yet again, they also emphasized that macroeconomic policies are not substitute for structural reforms but complements, complementary to structural reforms. And that's exactly what we're aiming at.

Despite the need for strong structural reforms, if the cyclicality strengthens too much and drags down the economy then the global economy may actually fall into recession. So that we need to avoid."

"The country at the same time faces longer term issues like aging population that is a serious

danger to the country's growth potential. What should the country do to raise the growth potential?

    "One is rebalancing.

We have been an export dependent economy and that has to change at some point.

The second one is creative economy and that's essentially creating value that needs to solicit demand as well as supply. It's rather a little difficult concept but what that essentially means in simple language, is that we need to come up with products that did not exist before.

And that's the way you create both supply and demand at the same time. Because that then, will have direct impact on job creation, and recreate a virtuous cycle."

"Alright, thank you so much for your time today."

Title: Gov't names five consortia to spearhead VR content development

The Korean government has announced a list of consortia that will be in charge of developing virtual reality content.

The goal is to make VR content more accessible to the general public and help devise ways to create a profit-oriented business model in the VR industry.

    Our tech correspondent Kim Ji-yeon.

The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning has announced five consortia on Wednesday... that will lead the creation of virtual reality content at state-run facilities nationwide.

Together, the selected companies will receive a combined 7-point-2-million U.S. dollars in state funding by the end of the year.

One of the consortiums is led by Korea-based VR content provider D'strict.

It will produce the content featured at VR centers in the tourist areas of Gwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul and the southernmost island of Jeju.

With their ideas, visitors will be able to take virtual tours of Seoul's ancient palaces and Jeju Island's most scenic views... through VR simulators and Augmented Reality galleries... captured by 360-degree cameras.

Another consortium... led by leading telecommunications operator KT... will be in charge of allowing users to take virtual tours of sites with some of their favorite K-pop stars.

And... in the gaming and entertainment sector,... local startups, including 3D Factory and UTPLUS Interactive, will be developing three-dimensional first-person shooting and racing games at their flagship stores around the country.

The ministry is eventually hoping to find a sustainable profit model for the long-term development of VR content in Korea.

For starters, it's benchmarking the 14-thousand square-meter VR theme park and zombie survival experience "Zero Latency" in Australia and the VR maze "The Void" in the U.S. state of Utah.

    Kim Ji-yeon, Arirang News.

Title: NOAA Report: 2015 marks the hottest year on record

Record shows... 2015 was the warmest year on record both on land and at sea. We also saw more tropical storms than three decades ago, and greenhouse gas reached alarming levels, all leading to stronger, and more devastating natural disasters.

What's all the more worrisome however is that 2015 was only a prelude to what's to come this year. Kim Hyesung reports.

2015 was the hottest year since climate records began.

According to the "State of the Climate" report by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration released on Wednesday, last year was the first time that Earth's surface temperature exceeded those from the early and mid 19th century by more than one degrees Celsius.

The report said the higher temperature was due to a combination of long-term climate change and a strong El Nino weather pattern.

While 2015 saw the strongest El Nino in more than 50 years, the phenomenon was a short-term trigger to a long-term global warming caused by human activity.

Concentration of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide levels at Mauna Loa Observatory in Hawaii, exceeded 400 parts per million for the first time.

Sea levels also rised about 70 millimeters higher than the 1993 average, when detailed measurements first began.

And the rapid changes in the climate led to extreme weather events in 2015.

There were 101 recorded tropical cyclones last year, 20 more than the annual average from 1981 to 2010.

In June last year, a severe heatwave claimed over 1,300 lives in Pakistan and 12 countries including Russia and China saw unusually high annual average temperatures.

But what is more troubling about the report is that El Nino is likely to have an even greater impact on global surface temperatures this year.

Already, according to NASA, the earth's surface temperatures and Arctic sea ice extent have broken numerous records through the first half of 2016.

And the newly released climate report adds to increasing evidence demonstrating that unless immediate action is taken to address climate change, our planet will continue on a path leading to a very grim future.

    Kim Hyesung, Arirang News.

Title: Celebrating Korea's traditional martial art...World Taekwondo Hanmadang kicks off in Seoul

The World Taekwondo Hanmadang is an annual event held to celebrate the iconic and staple Korean martial art.

The global event kicked off this year's four-day run today... our Lee Unshin brings us to the much anticipated Taekwondo event up close and personal.

Steady and firm movements,... then featuring powerful strikes in the blink of an eye.

It requires focus, speed, agility and most of all, a lot of practice.

This is the now world renowned martial art, also an Olympic discipline, Taekwondo , as demonstrated in front of thousands of spectators at this international festival in Korea...the birthplace of the martial art.

    [Korean]

"Taekwondo has the power to bring people together. Practitioners share their common love for the martial art, which is also a form of mental training. And that's what the event is about; promoting the great tenets of Taekwondo and uniting people."

Proving just how influential and global taekwondo is, the opening ceremony was attended by thousands of participants from over 60 different countries.

Loud cheers filled the venue as spectators from abroad didn't hide their excitement each time a country's delegation made their entrance to the World Taekwondo headquarters, also known as Kukkiwon in Korean.

"I started Taekwondo when I was 17, so quite older than a lot of people here to start, but ever since I started I just loved it. And I just love it here, really, the excitement here and festival, all the different categories of competition has been amazing."

Commonly recognized for its powerful yet rapid movements, taekwondo is widely taught as

self-defense art, and now it has become into a modern, fun, and rewarding form of workout for many people.

    [Interview]

"I'm so proud to see young people's genuine excitement to learn Taekwondo and international communities' enthusiasm over the traditional Korean martial art. "

    [stand-up]

Gathering Taekwondo practitioners and fans from all over the world, the 4-day event, highlights the spirit of the martial art through competitions and demonstrations until Saturday, here at Kukkiwon in Seoul.

    Title: Road to Rio Title

Title: Torch arrives in Rio de Janeiro ahead of opening ceremony

As Rio counts down to its Olympic opening ceremony in just two days from now... the Olympic torch arrived in Rio de Janeiro just moments ago.

On a yacht steered by an elite crew of seven Olympic medalists... the torch sailed in and is now headed towards the Maracana Stadium.

That is where the torch will light up the Olympic flame Friday evening... marking the official opening of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

A series of demonstrations against the Rio 2016 Games had forced the torch relay to change route AND delaying the procession by an hour on the eve of the flame's arrival in Rio.

Meanwhile, it's not just the torch making a touch down in the South American city... athletes and delegations from participating nations... including Team Korea... have been arriving in Rio as well.

Some 50 members of the South Korean national team attended a welcome ceremony on Tuesday... before entering the athletes' village.

Title: Road to Rio: Korea looking to revive subdued Olympic spirit

So, a bit more than 48 hours away... but with all the negative news coming out of Rio, and a severe time difference, the Korean public is finding it hard to find their enthusiasm.

But there are those who haven't lost their Olympic spirit just yet.

Kwon Jang-ho met with some of them in our final Road to Rio news feature... before the Olympic torch is lit on Friday.

"Rio 2016 is just around the corner. But the mood here in Korea seems rather subdued. The Olympic fever seems a little cooler than years gone by."

"I haven't really seen it being talked about on TV and generally people don't seem interested."

"I normally enjoy sports, but I didn't even realize the Olympics were starting."

"I'm not going to bother watching it. The times are going to be too tough, and I'm not really drawn to it this year."

The time difference seems to be the biggest problem.

Brazil is exactly 12 hours behind Korea, which means most of the events will be taking place in the very early hours of the morning.

All the bad press that has been coming out of Rio -- on the virus outbreak, doping scandals and infrastructure problems -- seems to have taken its toll as well.

"With all the problems Rio is having, I think people can't help but have negative thoughts about it."

But not everyone has been put off.

    This is Lee Byeong-ha.

He'll soon be making the 28-hour trip to go to Rio.

He does have more of an incentive to go, as his younger brother, Lee Dong-keun, will be representing Korea as part of the badminton team.

But Dong-keun is not considered a medal prospect, and with all that's happening in Brazil, his parents will not be making the trip.

Dong-keun tried to prevent his brother from going, as well, but as an avid sports enthusiast, Byeong-ha was not going to be deterred.

" Aside from my brother's badminton games, I'm going to watch judo, fencing and handball, at least. ... I was in Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympics, and I went to the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon. But I really wanted to experience a Summer Olympics.

It's going to cost me a few thousand dollars, but money can be made later. I want to enjoy my life and support Team Korea."

"There's all this talk about the dangers in Brazil right now, such as crime and the Zika virus outbreak. Are you not scared?"

"I am a little worried. Over the last ten years, I have traveled to 32 countries, but I had never had any shots. But this time, I did get a yellow fever vaccine last month just to be on the safe side."

Byeong-ha says he knows there won't be many fans as dedicated as him, but he says he's that doesn't concern him either.

"Whether alone or with others, I plan to cheer on the Korean team as loud as I can."

To try and get more people as revved up as Byeong-ha is, the Korea Olympic Committee, alongside local businesses, have been looking to stoke the public's interest, with social media campaigns, special offers and products, such as these desserts, inspired by the colors of the Brazilian flag.

Other public groups are getting involved, too.

The Red Angels is a non-profit supporters club that aims to generate excitement about sport among the Korean public and bring awareness to social issues.

"Our country loves to cheer, but the mood is so down at the moment. If it was one of our family members competing at the Olympics, we would stay up all night to watch it. We have to think like that and support our athletes."

To fire up younger fans, the Seoul Children's Museum has put together a program that celebrates the Olympics through interactive exhibits and other activities.

"Instead of just watching the Olympics on TV, we wanted them to get involved through these activities, so they get a better understanding of the Olympics and what it stands for."

This year's Games may not be causing as much of a stir as before, but there are still plenty of people for whom the Olympic magic has not been lost.

"Of course I have to watch it. It's a global celebration, and what better joy is there?"

"The Olympics only come around once every four years, so we have to watch it "

And even if some people won't be watching the games live, their support and goodwill for Korea's dedicated athletes remains as strong as ever.

ever since he attacked the parents of a Muslim U.S. Army captain killed in the line of duty. Khizr Khan is a Pakistani born U.S. citizen whose son died in Iraq in 2004. Alongside his wife, Khan gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention in which he questioned whether Trump had read the American constitution. Trump's outrageous response was to suggest that Khan's wife didn't speak because her Muslim faith didn't allow her to.

Trump has been widely denounced for criticizing a family whose son died in service to the country:

"The notion that he would attack a Gold Star family that had made such extraordinary sacrifices on behalf of our country,...means that he is woefully unprepared to do this job."

Obama's remarks also appear to be motivated by Trump's apparent lack of understanding when it comes to global affairs. In an interview earlier this week the Republican Presidential nominee appeared to display a lack of awareness of current global politics regarding Russia and Ukraine.

Title: 22 Missing after bridge collapses in Mumbia, India

At least 22 people are missing after a bridge collapsed in western India. Barry what's happening on the ground?

The bridge forms part of the Mumbai-Goa highway over the river Savitri and it collapsed due to serious flooding.

The National Disaster Response Force and Coast Guard are carrying out a major search operation with around 80 rescuers and divers looking for those still unaccounted for.

"I saw three vehicles. Before I could make out anything, the bridge collapsed and the vehicles plunged into the river. I called the emergency number, but it was in vain."

The flooding happened as a result of the monsoon season in India.

183 people have died and 7.7 million people have been displaced due to monsoon rains and floods in this season alone.

Title: More heat expected in capital area

What a hot day. Any remains of yesterday's rain literally evaporated today, with the first heat wave WARNING of the season issued for Seoul. For more on the weather, let's go over to our Lee Jeehyun at the weather center.

Jee-hyun, the first heat wave warning was issued in Seoul today?

As of 5 PM, the weather agency upgraded the advisory for the capital to a warning,...which is four days earlier compared to the previous year. The mercury rose to 34.2 degrees Celsius,... and the recent hot conditions have already caused about 100 casualties in last two days.

These conditions can certainly lead to life-threatening situations. We will never stress this enough: stay hydrated and avoid being outdoors between 2 to 5 PM if possible.

Right, and those visiting swimming pools or beach resorts should be extra careful in particular. Tomorrow is forecast to be as hot as today, with highs expected to go to the mid thirties in the upper regions including Seoul under mostly sunny skies.

Seoul is expected to experience another topical night, waking up

to a low of 25 degrees Celsius tomorrow, while Daejeon, Gwangju and Busan will start at 24.

The high in Seoul and Daejeon will reach 35 degrees Celsius,... while Daegu and Gwangju will see highs of 33 and 34 degrees.

Sweltering conditions will continue for the rest of the week, with top temperatures to hover around 35 degrees so be sure to take good care of your health.

That's Korea for you, and here's a look at the weather conditions around the world.
