    Title: Opening

It is 9 a.m. in New York, 8 in the evening in Vientiane and 10 here in Seoul.

Hello and welcome to our viewers all across the globe.

    This is Arirang Newscenter.

Title: EAS adopts non-proliferation statement on N. Korean provocations

We begin in the Laotian capital of Vientian where the ASEAN and related summits came to a close today.

The grand finale came from the region's security forum dubbed East Asia Summit -- where the leaders adopted a non-proliferation statement, urging North Korea to abandon its nuclear and missile programs in a "complete, verifiable, and irreversible" manner.

Our Song Ji-sun is traveling with the presidential press corps - she joins us live from Vientiane.

Jisun, we were certainly aware that international community has been making various joint efforts both out in the open AND under the table. But, this never-before-seen move most definitely strikes a remarkable note.

    "Indeed, Conn-young.

This is the first time the region's strategic forum adopted a separate statement aside from its chair statement. This is a step forward from previous summits, with the significance that it puts more pressure on Pyongyang... as we are talking about a united region of 18 countries -- the 10 ASEAN members, South Korea, Japan, China, U.S. Russia, India, New Zealand and, Australia -- which played a key role in the outcome of this document."

Leaders at the East Asia Summit adopted a joint non-proliferation statement condemning North Korea's continued nuclear provocations.

18 member nations urged North Korea to abandon its nuclear and ballistic missile programs in a complete, verifiable and irreversible manner,... expressing grave concern over Pyongyang's nuclear tests and ballistic missile launches

The EAS called on Pyongyang to abide by its international obligations and UN Security Council resolutions.

"The statement is the first of its kind for the EAS to adopt, and it specifically indicates North Korea to abandon its nuclear and missile programs. The statement is evaluated as having contributed greatly to sending a stern message by the international community to Pyongyang."

The statement also called for joint efforts to resume the stalled six-party talks on the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula at an early date.

In her speech at the East Asia Summit, President Park Geun-hye stressed the gravity of North Korean threats... saying it's a matter of life and death for South Korea... and if the international community fails to curb Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions, there will come a day when the world will regret it.

The South Korean leader also asked her counterparts to set a watertight environment from which Pyongyang has no other option but change... by closing loopholes in international sanctions in order to achieve a more thorough implementation of them.

Likely referring to the deployment of the U.S. missile defense system THAAD to the Korean peninsula, Park said it's the least South Korea must do to defend itself,... as the root of the issue is North Korean threats.

"Over the week... President Park held a series of bilateral talks with her U.S., Japanese, Chinese and Russian counterparts, beefing up cooperation to counter North Korea's provocations on bilateral and also on trilateral levels. And also note that this is only the beginning.

The president's foreign affairs secretary told reporters that there is a total of 5 statements, including those set to be adopted and those already adopted, from the ASEAN and related summits held over the past days. Back to you."

Obviously the international community strongly determined to put an end to North Korea's nuclear and missile program once and for all. Our Song Ji-sun live from Vientiane -- great job, thank you.

Title: U.S. may reconsider THAAD deployment if N.K. scraps nuclear and missile program

Now, there in Laos... U.S. President Barack Obama's Deputy National Security Advisor said Washington may reconsider deploying THAAD to Seoul... if Pyongyang scraps its nuclear and missile programs.

BUT, what's also been confirmed today... that the U.S. test fired an ICBM with a range that can reach the North Korean capital immediately after Pyongyang's ballistic missile launches earlier this week.

    Devin Whiting reports.

The United States would be willing to think twice about deploying THAAD on South Korean soil if North Korea abandoned its development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

That's according to Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes.

He made the remarks at a press conference in Laos when asked if there were any circumstances under which the missile defense system would not be deployed.

Rhodes stressed the deployment is solely intended to counter North Korea's threats.

But he said the U.S. hasn't seen any signs North Korea intends to change its ways... in light of the regime's recent launch of three ballistic missiles into waters near Japan.

He also said Washington would not reconsider the THAAD deployment just because China and other countries more strictly implement sanctions against the North.

In addition, he pitched the need to focus more on the sanctions as North Korea may find ways to bypass them.

"We have to be very vigilant in sanctions enforcement and we have to maintain the sense of urgency among the international community."

But at the same time, it's also been confirmed that on Tuesday, the day of the South Korea-U.S. bilateral summit between Presidents Park Geun-hye and Barack Obama, the U.S. Air Force test fired an intercontinental ballistic missile, in an apparent show of force... and a warning to North Korea.

Title: Seoul Defense Dialogue 2016 kicks off in Seoul

Back here in Seoul, military and security officials from 34 countries are gathered for an annual two-day defense dialogue. Topping the discussions table - North Korea's nuclear program and disputes in the South China Sea.

Our defense correspondent Kim Hyunbin reports.

The Seoul Defense Dialogue 2016 kicked off on Thursday with military leaders from 34 countries and five international organizations taking part. Topping the agenda is regional and international security issues involving North Korea's nuclear program... and maritime disputes in the South China Sea.

During the dialogue, South Korean Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn emphasized the importance of a nuclear-free peninsula.

"Our government, the UN and the international community need to put strong sanctions and pressure on Pyongyang so it will go down the path of denuclearization."

The first plenary session on Thursday focused on the denuclearization of North Korea and how to enhance international cooperation on the issue.

The participants assessed North Korea's growing nuclear threats, UN Security Council resolutions on Pyongyang's nuclear program and how the framework of the Iranian nuclear deal could be applied to the regime.

""We should unite and show our strong determination that North Korea's nuclear and terror acts are unacceptable.

If Pyongyang doesn't change course we should make it known they will suffer severe consequences."

Also on Thursday, South Korea's defense minister Han Min-koo held talks with the chief of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to discuss cooperative measures to prevent Pyongyang's possible use of chemical and biological weapons.

On Friday, the final day, the plenary session will focus on maritime security cooperation, discussing crisis management on the South China Sea issues.

However Beijing is not taking part in the forum this year as a protest against Seoul's recent decision to deploy the U.S. advanced missile defense system THAAD to the peninsula.

    Kim Hyun-bin, Arirang News.

Title: U.S. State Dept. submits report to Congress on ways to help N. Koreans gain greater access to outside information

Feeding outside information to people inside the hermit kingdom.

THAT may be one of the most effective strategies the U.S. has adopted to add pressure on North Korea.

    How? Our Connie Kim explains.

The U.S. State Department has submitted a report to Congress on ways to help North Koreans gain greater access to outside information... as part of its plans to mount further pressure on the regime.

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker said Wednesday the report was submitted last week to both the Senate and House Foreign Affairs Committees.

The report was required under the North Korea Sanctions and Policy Enhancement Act signed by U.S. President Barack Obama signed in February.

The document reportedly includes a detailed strategy to provide "unrestricted, unmonitored, and inexpensive electronic mass communications" to North Koreans.

South Korea's foreign ministry said it does not know the details of the report, but described the impact outside information can have on the North Korean people.

"When outside information gets into the North it can cause shockwaves in the society as it is a closed regime. In fact, looking at the surveys conducted among North Korean defectors in the South, information from outside can influence their perceptions on South Korea."

To counter North Korea's continued nuclear provocations,Washington is cornering Pyongyang by putting sanctions on the regime and listing Kim Jong-un on the U.S. sanctions list for human rights abuses.

"The U.S., with its allies, is expected to continue its pressure on the North to denuclearize with Seoul and Tokyo as it's considering a trilateral foreign ministers' meeting on the sidelines of the UN plenary session later this month.

    Connie Kim, Arirang News."

Title: Gov't laids out 2016-2020 plan to foster Korea's medical sector

A five-year plan the Korean government has laid out -- to help boost the global competitiveness of quite possibly the country's new growth, create new jobs AND raise the average life span.

It's none other than the nation's medical sector. Our tech correspondent Kim Ji-yeon.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare unveiled a comprehensive plan to boost Korea's medical sector at a policy meeting presided by Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn on Thursday.

The government's 5-year plan includes providing tax cuts for companies making investments into building research-and-development facilities and conduct clinical trials to test new drugs.

It hopes to increase the number of new pharmaceutical drugs for exports, on the heels of successful cases such as SK Chemicals' hemophilia drug Afstyla and antibiotic Factive from LG Life Sciences.

The plan also aims to double the number of local biosimilar drugs, or biological medical products with properties that are similar to ones that have already been approved, to 10 types during the same period.

They'll also be plans for the early adoption of bigdata, stem cell research and DNA analytics technology into the medical sector for customized treatment of individuals... by creating a DNA database of 100-thousand people.

"The advancement of local medical services and industry sectors is expected to raise public health and become a growth engine and help create a number of quality jobs."

The government expects to increase the number of jobs in the sector to one million and raise medical-related exports to nearly 18-point-3-billion dollars by 2020.

It also expects to attract more foreigners seeking treatment to the country to 750-thousand patients.

With this initiative, the government expects the increased competitiveness in the sector will help raise the country's average life span by three years to 76-years by 2020.

The five-year plan comes amid rapid growth in the local health and medical industry.

Exports in medical devices, supplies and skin-care products is increasing at a yearly rate of around 19-percent since 2011 to record more than 8-and-a-half-billion dollars in 2015.

Title: Corporate restructuring picks up pace: Hanjin Shipping unlikely to receive any fresh financing from its creditors

Corporate restructring in Korea's troubled shipping and shipbuilding industries is picking up steam.

This comes while the once mighty Hanjin Shipping appears unlikely to receive financing from its creditors.

Our Shin Se-min sheds light on the wind of change coming this way.

Korea's finance minister Yoo Il-ho said the government has to stick to principle when dealing with companies in Hanjin's situation and go ahead with it's corporate restructuring drive.

In parliament Thursday, the finance minister added that government can even let such companies go into court receivership because the government can't keep throwing tax payers money to help normalize their businesses.

And more bad news for Hanjin Shipping -- industry sources say its main creditor, the state-run Korea Development Bank is unlikely to extend more credit to the shipper without collateral from its parent group.

A local court had asked for the creditors to lend money for Hanjin's outstanding bills, which are holding up cargo shipments worldwide. But even a 90-million U.S. dollar pledge from the Hanjin Group chairman himself wasn't enough to convince lenders to open their wallets -- in fact they said that's far shy of what Hanjin needs to operate normally.

Alongside the government's corporate restructuring drive, the Finance Ministry has laid out plans to downsize the shipbuilding industry.

By 2018, the government will push to cut facilities by 20 percent and manpower by 30 percent... at Hyundai Heavy Industries, Samsung Heavy Industries... and Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering.

This will trim oversupply and leave the overall size of industry at the level of two major firms based on current capacity.

Finance Minister Yoo Il-ho said that it will consistently push through the industry overhaul,... adding that the next two years will be vital in breathing new life into the economy.

Title: WTO rules in favor of Korea in anti-dumping dispute with U.S. on washers

Korea has largely won an appeal ruling at the World Trade Organization... in a challenge that puts U.S. anti-subsidy duties on Korean-made washing machines in jeopardy.

Three years of dispute seemingly coming to an end.

    Oh Jung-hee has the details.

Korea gained a de facto victory on its case against the United States' anti-dumping measures on Korean washing machines.

The government announced on Thursday,...the World Trade Organization's Appellate Body ruled that the anti-dumping tariff that the U.S. imposed on Korea's residential washers of nine-to-thirteen percent violated the WTO anti-dumping agreement.

The U.S.' zeroing and target dumping practices came under fire.

In calculating anti-dumping duties,... the U.S. had been overstating its overall average of dumping by setting at zero any negative difference between the domestic price of Korean washers and U.S. import price.

The U.S. also adopted a "targeted dumping" scheme,...which imposes tariffs on products sold in specific region at specific timing.

The scheme targeted Korean washers sold on 2012 Black Friday.

The U.S. Commerce Department imposed heavy anti-dumping duties on Korean washers in December 2012,... causing Korean washer manufactruers to substain significant annual losses in exports since then.

Korea raised a complaint to the WTO in August 2013. The Appellate Body's decision echoes the initial one made by the organization's dispute settlement board panels in March this year.

The body's report will be made final when the board meets later this month for a regular session,... and the U.S. will have up to 15 months to hold negotiations with and compensate Korean washer manufacturers Samsung and LG.

Korea's trade ministry says that, from this ruling, it expects a positive impact on Korea's leading manufacturing industries amid growing protectionism.

    Oh Jung-hee, Arirang News.

Title: Gyeongsangnam-do Province governor Hong Joon-pyo receives 18 months jail term for accepting bribery

A sitting Korean governor has been handed a sentence of 18 months in prison for accepting kickbacks from a businessman. Instantly after the ruling, Governor Hong said he would appeal immediately.

Park Ji-won has more on the case of Hong Joon-pyo.

Gyeongsangnam-do Province governor Hong Joon-pyo was convicted Thursday of violating the Political Funds Act.

The Seoul Central District Court handed down an 18-month jail term to the 61-year-old politician,... for taking bribes worth some 90-thousand U.S. dollars from now-deceased businessman Sung Woan-jong,... back in 2011.

The court said,... however,... the governor won't be put under immediate court custody, considering that he is a sitting governor.

Governor Hong called the verdict absurd,... and promised to appeal.

Under the Public Official Election Act, elected officials sentenced to jail or fined in excess of around 9-hundred dollars lose their posts. That will apply to Governor Hong if the verdict is confirmed by the Supreme Court.

The case goes back to April last year... when businessman Sung Woan-jong killed himself,... leaving a suicide note.... listing names of eight high-profile politicians and officials that he allegedly bribed,... with the amount of money that he had given them.

After a months-long special investigation,... prosecuters indicted two out of the eight politicians listed,... governor Hong and former Prime Minister Lee Wan-koo,... the latter quitting his post amid the scandal.

The former Prime Minister was sentenced to 8 months in jail... and two years of probation.

Lee appealed the verdict,... and will get a verdict on his appeal at the end of this month.

    Park Ji-won, Arirang News.

Title: Prosecutors question Lotte founder at his office

Shin Kyuk-ho..., founder of Korea's fifth largest conglomerate, Lotte Group received a visit by state prosecutors in his office in downtown Seoul today who where there to asess the 93-year-old's health condition and decide how best to question Shin on allegations of tax evasion and creating slush funds.

The outcome? Not so fruitful - our Hwang Hojun explains.

The subpoena originally ordered him to appear before the prosecution on Wednesday.

A day after the officials met with Shin Kyuk-ho and his physician to check on the 93-year-old's physical and mental health,... prosecutors went to Lotte Hotel in downtown Seoul on Thursday afternoon, where the business tycoon 's personal office is located, to interrogate him there.

The interrogation lasted for a couple of hours.

Prosecutors have reportedly said that Shin has denied all allegations and dodged some of the questions by simply stating lack of memory.

It was just last week the South Korean court appointed a law firm as the Lotte founder's legal guardian... due to what it called his "diminished mental capacity" owing to his poor health and old age.

The prosecution has been investigating the scandal since early June over allegations Shin evaded some 550 million U.S. dollars in taxes while handing over stocks to his family members including his eldest daughter, Shin Young-ja, and his third wife, Seo Mi-kyung.

The prosecution has also said it's in the process of revoking the passport of his wife, who's currently living in Japan.

That will likely prompt the Japanese government to deport her back to Korea so the case can be investigated further.

If Seo continues to evade the proceedings, prosecutors will then look into issuing an arrest warrant and request her extradition.

Title: A spec-off of this year's newest smartphones

If you're looking to get a new smartphone this year....Apple has released its' newest iphones on Wednesday...and other market giants like Samsung and LG have also unveiled their newest smartphones earlier this year.

There's a lot of different choices for the users around the globe..but what are some of the newest features and unique functionalities of these phones?

Our Lee Un-shin, gives us a spec-off of some of the newest smartphones this year.

Apple revealed its latest iPhone installment at its annual event on Wednesday,...and is set to compete against the recently released Korean handsets, Samsung's Galaxy note 7 and LG's V 20.

Featuring state-of-the-art technologies and new features, here's what users around the world need to know about these top-notch smartphones.

    Let's start with Samsung's Galaxy note 7.

What really makes Samsung stand out is the S Pen, and for the new Galaxy Note 7...the stylus comes with additional functions, not to mention a thinner tip that makes writing and drawing feel easier and more natural.

And the company's eye-scanning technology has also taken the world by storm.

The device comes with an Iris detection feature...and it's said to be the safest way of keeping information locked in the phone, which allows for safer phone banking transactions.

And for users who call themselves big "music-head"s...LG's new V20 might be the right choice. LG put a huge emphasis on audio features.

Equipped with three mics and four digital converters, to help minimize noise...

the V-20 is said to deliver more accurate, louder, clearer audio quality than any other smartphone in the market.

The V 20 is also keeping its signature removable battery.

Now, Apple's iPhone 7 keeps its signature aesthetics... with a big difference in size compared to the previous iPhone 6-series.

The iPhone-7 is the smallest among all recently released smartphones, with just 4-point-7 inches, an inch smaller than the galaxy note 7 and v-20.

And the iPhone-7-Plus, comes at 5-point-5 inches, still a bit smaller than the other two rivals.

Apples's new iphone and its' 'Plus' series, both have 12-mega pixel cameras, while the 7-Plus, features a "dual lens" function, for better Zoomed-in photos.

Storage-wise, there will be no need for additional micro-SD memory cards... as the iPhone got rid of its basic line of 16 gigabytes and launched the iPhone 7 starting with 32 gigabytes, followed by one-hundred-28...and up to 2-hundred 56 Gigabytes.

But the biggest shocker at Wednesday's reveal was Apple getting rid of the headphone jack for the iPhone 7 and 7 plus.

Instead, the new iPhone packages will come with wireless earphones called "Airpods" that connect to the phone's Lightning port.

They provide up to 5-hours of listening, but with the compact charging case, they promise 24-hours of total battery life.

With Samsung, LG and Apple all featuring some never-before-seen fucntions...users around the world have some head scratching to do before choosing the one that suits their tast the most

The new iPhones are set to hit shelves on September 16th in the U.S..

Title: Korean wines have become more competitive

The Chuseok holiday is less than a week away, and Koreans are rushing their steps to buy respective gifts for loved ones. And among popular presents, imported wine was a favorite for some years now.

But they seem to have some competition now, as domestic wines are staing out in the market, especially for their good quality and affordable prices.

    Kim Mok-yeon reports.

Last year, wine made from Korean Cheongsoo green grapes was evaluated to be excellent in terms of taste and quality among sommeliers and consumers.

The wine, fermented in oak casks, has received wide accolades for its outstanding fragrance and flavor.

"This wine has the perfect blend of sweetness and sourness, which goes well when taken with Korean food. We think it's a very good wine for Koreans who love refreshing drinks."

Another homegrown wine recently hitting the shelves is made by fermenting honey and apples.

The wine is highly sought after for its Acacia and honey scent and its sweet and smooth taste.

"I tend to buy a lot of Korean wines because of their flavors and health benefits. I think it will be a good drink to share with family members during the holidays"

The size of Korea's wine market has been estimated to stand at around 421 million U.S. dollars in 2015.

Imported wines from France, Chile and Australia are among the most popular wine selections here in Korea, but with the rapidly developing local wine industry, it seems like Korean wines will soon gain a strong presence in the market.

Title: Open government data creating social and economic impact in Korea

Since 2013, the Korean government has been collecting data to set a public database that not only contributes to government transparency, but also unlocks infinite possibilities in creating social and economic value.

Transportation, the medical industry, and even retailers can all benefit from open data.

In our News Features tonight, Oh Soo-young shows us how the stream of data is sparking new business ideas,... and what the country is doing to maximise the positive impacts across society.

Have you ever wondered where you left your bag, an important piece of equipment, or whether your child has got to school safely?

Well, there's an app for that. One Korean tech company uses government-supplied data to help you pin down the exact address and location of the person or property in question.

All you need is your smartphone or a tracking device.

"Buying maps and address data from other companies was quite a burden and undependable at times. But now we get the data for free on steady terms. It saves us 10 to 20% of our operating costs."

In 2013, the Korean government launched an intiative called Government 3.0, unlocking data in key sectors of public interest like health, transportation and real estate.

Having released more than 17-thousand data sets for 6-hundred and sixty-one agencies,... Korea ranks first among OECD member countries in terms of data openness.

However, a study found that since the initiative began three years ago, only 5 percent of that information was used to develop new products and services.

To encourage more usage of the data, there has been a shift of focus from increasing the quantity of open data to enhancing its overall quality.

"Data institutions need to supply data from the perspective of the user, considering accessibility. Another important factor is standardization. Without it, data from different sources cannot interlink, which is very inconvenient. When data links, that creates value. So the government is currently working on that."

Also, an incubation center was established this year to help start-ups build their businesses on data.

"Most of those using open data are single-person businesses, start-ups and small companies. We found that what they need most, after data, is the physical space to develop their ideas.'"

Start-ups can receive comprehensive support, from business courses, consultations to one-on-one mentoring sessions. There's also a strong synergy effect as they can bounce ideas and tips off each other.

Antok is one such company. It's a fintech startup that provides securities information in a visual way that's easy to understand.

"There's clearly a limit to how much an investor can digest and apply securities information when making an investment decision. What we do is evaluate the company's financial performance and stock performance. So all they have to do is come to our website and type in the company name."

Users can spot the various risks of a company through colorful infographics,... and look up financial jargon that's carefully explained.

"There were companies that sold financial data but now that we have direct access to the source, it reduces our dependency on other businesses and adds to our competitive edge. Most of all, it's cost-effective."

It's not just the private sector that can maximise the benefits of data. In countries like the UK and the US, which rank high in terms of utilisation, data is also used by civic groups and public institutions to improve government policies.

"We've got lots of different intermediary groups who are active. We've benefited a lot from a lot of good social interaction between civil servants working on policy areas,... a gathering of government, civil society, private sector to discuss how to make government work better. It's important to build the links of trust and interaction."

With more and more data being opened, promising unlimited possibilities,... there are more opportunities for both the public and private sectors to convert data into ideas and ideas into impact.

    Oh Soo-young, Arirang News.

Title: Obama brushes off Duterte insult

Barack Obama has brushed off an insult made by the controversial president of the Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte. I'm joined by Barry Welsh for World News. The U.S. President said earlier today that he "doesn't take Duterte's comments seriously."

Duterte strained relations with one of the Philippine's most powerful allies when he

referred to the U.S. President as "a son of a whore" last week. The two presidents were due to meet for the first time on the sidelines of the ASEAN conference. Even though Obama appeared to be unfazed by the comments, calling Duterte a 'colorful guy', he swiftly cancelled their scheduled meeting. A minor diplomatic storm ensued with the Philippines government quickly issuing a statement saying that Duterte regretted the remarks.

And now Obama has also stepped in to downplay any damage the incident might have done to ties between the two nations:

"As I said when I was asked about this in China I don't take these comments personally because it seems as if this is a phrase he's used repeatedly including directed at the Pope and others and so Il think it seems to be just a habit, a way of speaking for him."

Obama also highlighted areas in which America and the Philippines have common interests. He said that the two countries should collaborate on tackling drug traffickers. It seems like this diplomatic storm has safely blown over.

Title: Paralympic Games open in Rio

Rio's paralympic games kicked off yesterday with a spectacular opening ceremony and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron. Yesterday was also Brazil's Independence Day and as such the celebrations were particularly euphoric. Over 4,300 athletes from over 170 nations in more than 20 sports are taking part in the 15th Summer Paralympics.

Spectators at the opening ceremony were abundantly enthusiastic:

"I was surprised by my country. I never thought this would happen. We went beyond our capacity. Fantastic Fantastic And the reception we gave the foreign athletes-- incredible Incredible I love my country "

The paralympic sports include archery, judo and swimming as well as many more all competing under this year's event motto of 'A New World.'

But it hasn't all been plain sailing. Like the Olympic Games earlier in the year the Paralympics organizers have been beset by controversies.

They have had some problems such as low ticket sales, funding issues and Russia's complete ban from participating in the event.

In an interesting development the banned Russian athletes have kicked off their own games in Moscow.

Russia has indeed set up its own version of the games for the banned athletes and it just kicked off in Moscow. .

Title: More sporadic showers, similar temperatures as Thursday

With Chuseok now only a week away, most of you probably have everything all planned out for the long holiday. Will the weather co-operate?... let's find out by going over to Lee Jee-hyun at the weather center. Jeehyun, with huge numbers of people expected to travel across Korea this Chuseok...will the weather be favorable?

It seems like it... for central parts of the country anyway.

A good amount of sunshine is expected over the holiday, while the southern provinces and Jeju Island could have cloudy skies on the day of Chuseok, meaning the full moon might not be visible. Also this year's Chuseok holidays will be relatively warm,... but we still can't rule out fine dust or the possibility of typhoon formation.

And if you will be traveling by transportation, it's good to know that the Korea Railroad Corporation has deployed about 350 additional KTX bullet trains and regular trains to reduce overcrowding during holidays.

And for those returning to the capital after Chuseok, subway and bus operations in Seoul will be extended to 2 a.m. on September 16th to 17th.

We had better air quality today thanks to the sudden showers in Seoul earlier in the day. For tomorrow, air quality will remain at a normal level but there will still be a chance of sporadic rain across the nation.

Temperatures should be similar to today.

Seoul, Daejeon, Daegu and Gwangju will start out at 20 degrees Celsius.

    For the highs,

Seoul will see highs of 27 degrees Celsius while Daejeon, Daegu, Busan and Jeju Island will hit 28

    .

That covers Korea -- here's a look at the weather conditions around the world.
